Due to the pandemic, this year's Parksville Volunteer Fire Department food and toy drive will look very different as there will be no door-to-door collection in neighbourhoods. Firefighters will be at locations in Parksville on Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15 to collect cash donations for the Salvation Army food bank.Physically distanced and masked, our firefighters will be at set locations from 9 am to 5 pm asking residents for cash donations to help fill the boots for food. We are indeed fortunate that currently there is no community transmission on Central Vancouver Island and although the Parksville-Qualicum Beach region and Vancouver Island are considered low risk, it is important that we keep prevention measures top of mind. Each year, the Parksville Fire Department recognizes Fire Prevention Week from October 4 to October 10. Due to the pandemic and because the fire hall remains closed to the public, we are not able to host our annual open house. Parksville Fire is supporting Fire Prevention Week 2020 a little different this year.
